San Francisco is a dystopian hellhole caught in doomloop and it is all because everyone hates techbros. Well, we are tired of being disrespected. Therefore we are going to attack those who can't fight back, yes, poor people. To do that more effectively we want more police. Lots more police. LOTS more police! And less, far less, Narcan and other harm reduction.
Previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously.
you sure this is not a joke or from Cyberpunk 2077
Incidentally, I finally watched The Menu this week and would now love to recommend a particular restaurant for Musk, Zuck, Dorsey, Gates, and the like.

The narrative pitting (highly paid) workers and poor people against one another is exactly what will not solve the root issue which is lack of housing. As far back as there has been a tech industry, the entire SF bay has opposed further density and god forbid we build a proper light rail loop that would let the poor escape the endless money and time sink that is driving a car to work. (Literally, Atherton and Menlo Park vetoed making BART a loop back in its original design, to avoid letting the poor come visit).
San Francisco can't convert commercial to residential fast enough.
But housing isn't the root of the problem, and cars aren't either. It's the yard sale effect.
Thanks for the yard sale article, it was fascinating.
I think I played the "yard sale effect" game incorrectly:

Comedy web site: More cops will punch our way out of drug addiction
You: Can't we all just get along? By building more luxury condos
Supposedly SF is becoming so bad the techbros are coming to London --https://www.telegraph.co.uk/property/news/san-francisco-crime-surge-sees-tech-chiefs-move-to-london/
-- as if we need higher house prices.
Please, no. We already have a serious infestation of russian kleptocrats, we don't need american ones as well.
Reportedly the kleptocrats are going to Dubai: https://www.ft.com/content/5ccb498b-9d6c-4a67-87aa-69f7e3f17092
