Xavier Novell, 52, announced last month that he was resigning from his post as Bishop of Solsona in Catalonia for "strictly personal reasons". [...]
Novell is likely no stranger to the demonic, having been among the handful of Spanish bishops to decline having an exorcist appointed in 2015, opting instead to perform the role himself. He reportedly met Caballol, a psychologist who has studied sexology, yoga, Catholicism and Islam, after he began studying demonology.
The Hell in Gabriel's Lust, Caballol's most recent book, promises 'prisons, psychopathy, sects, sadism, madness, lust and, little by little, as the story progresses... the unreality of immortality and the crude struggle between good and evil, between God and Satan, and between angels and demons.'
I was rooting for the happy couple until I got to this part:
Novell, who has defended gay conversion therapy and described abortion and euthanasia as 'genocide', is out of step with the mood of the church under Francis.
His resignation was accepted by the Pope and the church has not commented.
Previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously.
The universe does like irony. Caballol sounds interesting.
Update:
"A Spanish bishop who quit the clergy to be with his sexologist lover has been accused of being 'possessed' after finding a new job exporting pig semen.
Xavier Novell, 52, announced three months ago that he was resigning from his post as Bishop of Solsona in Catalonia for 'strictly personal reasons'.
He has since found work with Semen Cardona - a global company which makes and exports high-quality pig semen to more than 20 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa, reports Spanish media outlet ABC."

Um… "makes pig semen"? Surely they just collect it by, um, jerking the pigs off? Maybe the Daily Mail didn't do the best job translating the original source?
That's a great big "yup":
– "El obispo de Solsona trabajará en Semen Cardona, una empresa especializada en inseminación de cerdos" in ABC
[Emphasis mine. And you don't need to read Spanish or toss that through an online translator to see the original says "extract" not "make".]
What is it with British Conservatives, pigs, and genitals, man?
