Oy... I'm reminded of when I worked at the CompUSA that was on Market (early-2000s) and we were required to not only push the optical discs, but fill a quota of new AOL subscribers. And this was during the AOL/Time-Warner era, when the rest of the world had already discovered DSL, (semi-)affordable cable, etc.
Of all the jobs I've ever had, I don't think I've ever been so glad to have been frequently written up for refusing to do the above.
In case anyone is unaware of texfiles's massive collection of AOL CDs... I don't see a corresponding collection of AOL floppies, which is what they would have been in 1993.
