All persons are prohibited from possessing any weapon (with the exception of firearms), including but not limited to, rocks, bottles, pipes, bats, clubs, chains, sharpened objects, shields, gas, flares, torches, paint balls, light bulbs, any incendiary devices, pry-bars, skateboards, liquid filled balloons, lumber, or any other objects which can be used for infliction of bodily harm or damage to property, if possessed with the intent to cause harm to persons or property. With respect to firearms, all persons are prohibited from discharging any firearms in the restricted area.
Shields are weapons. As are skateboards.
Previously, previously, previously, previously, previously, previously.
Clearly they had recently watched that scene in Kids.
And, once again, the hypocrisy of the NRA and US gun culture is laid bare. Of the 18 items listed in that big world-salad, all of them have practical use (the outlier being liquid-filled balloons, which started the first World War, don'tcha know?) or are naturally-occurring elements (rocks).
The gun-nut mantra is "Guns don't kill people [..] anything misused can be a weapon". That's true of the 18 things on that list, but not of guns... yet guns are the one thing that these folks are allowed to have to their heart's content.
Since the town's banned "from discharging any firearms in the restricted area", maybe when a resident is inevitably shot it'll be that one magical case where a gun did become sentient and kill someone.
"..all persons are prohibited from discharging any firearms in the restricted area."
So there's no problem here whatsoever!
well I feel ya.
Here in germany we have the legal concept of "defensive weaponry" which means you are forbidden to wear any equipment which can protect you or hide your face at demonstrations. It is criminal offense and can put you for a year in prison...
"You can't fight in here - this is the war room!"
Bringing a knife to a gunfight: it's not just a bad idea, it's against the law!
