I see it's "mock Burning Man" season already

Where does the time go?

Last week Burning Man announced eight different streams, apps, and VR thingamajiggies under their loose theme of the "Multiverse."

The developers (shocker: they're overwhelmingly male!) have "backgrounds in virtual reality, blockchain, hypnotism and immersive theatre," and only two of those concepts make me want to puke my guts out. Most will be available on desktop and mobile, though you may have second thoughts about downloading rush-job apps that will get your location data, camera access, and god knows what else, and a few require a VR headset.

You don't really need to click the link, because there's nothing interesting or even funny in those apps, but I will say, when I saw that one of the "expeeeeeeeriences" was called "The Infinite Playa" I was disappointed to find that it was not based on The Infinite Ikea.

I heard they're going to have some kind of paywalled online thing, but given the top notch job they've done over the years of selling tickets online for an in-person event -- a weirdly niche form of commerce that literally nobody has ever tried -- I expect it to be basically Geocities but with worse uptime.
