    Sadly none of these scenarios are hypothetical. The most dangerous are those where the current passes through the heart, i.e. all except for the guy whizzing off of the bridge.

    People who work on power distribution substations have an additional menace: the voltage gradient on the ground. Walk with too long of a stride and current can flow up one foot and down to the other, sizzling everything in between. That’s why substations are paved with gravel: to allow rainwater to quickly percolate creating a dry, high impedance ground.
