   And yet Trump is the president that expelled largest number of Russian diplomats out of the country ever and closed two Russian consulates, including San Francisco.

     And yet Trump is the president that called Putin to congratulate him on his election victory. The only world leader to do so.

       First result on Google:

       Putin received calls from a number of other foreign leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Many others, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, sent congratulatory telegrams.

       Previous Putin's election:

       President Obama called Russian President-elect and Prime Minister Putin to congratulate him on his recent victory in the Russian Presidential election, the White House said in a late Friday afternoon statement (read: news dump) about the Friday morning phone call between the two leaders.

       While I do think that calling Putin is wrong, at least stick to the facts.

   I'm having trouble finding a source for the allegation that Merkel sent a telegram. Merkel and Macron called him but did not offer congratulations for winning his sham election and extending his dictatorship for another six years.

   The climate between the US and Russia was much less contentious during the Obama years. Apples and oranges.

   In any case, I'm reading this as endorsing the idea that Trump should be more like Obama, and I'm okay with that.
