Confidential conversation with alexa in the room is nearing oxymoron. Every office is going to be a SCIF with TEMPEST shielding and a strict no cell phones or personal electronics pretty soon.

Given that the places that take such seriously relaxed their policies, I imagine not. I know of one defense contractor that would not allow camera phones inside until they became ubiquitous, ticking off engineers who had gotten permission to carry their phones after disabling their cameras with soldering irons. I suspect, though my recollection is vague, that the timing was such that appearance of the iPhone and its likely use among executives also played a role.
