Blood Drive

I just found out that Blood Drive was cancelled. This is tragic. That show was fantastic. Pretty much every episode is an homage to a different 70s or 80s splatter movie, with a Death Race framing story around it. They do Big Trouble, they do A Boy and His Dog, one of the MacGuffins is 2-4-5 Trioxin, from Return of the Living Dead. They even went to a town called Cronenburgh -- I died. And the season doesn't end on a cliffhanger, so that's nice. They had more to tell, but they wrapped up the first story, more or less.

I had a couple of friends say, "Um, I watched the first episode and that was pretty stupid." No. That just means you haven't acclimated yet. Have another drink and let it wash over you.

Previously, previously, previously.

  1. Aww. I haven't watched any of it but I just assumed I would love it too. I guess the cancellation is my fault.

I heard the (political-at-the-network) thing that killed it was their refusal to do a 'Carpool Karaoke with James Corden'.

    K3n.

P.S. Ofc I'm making this up, aiming for humour. James Corden's gristle, blood and humour.
P.P.S. Sometimes we make jokes that transgress -- please don't kill anybody -- I live among Europe-resident people who have running jokes about how offensively bland Corden is. Failing to spot humour is crucial to the cancellation of Blood Drive.

I really enjoyed this show. It was nuts, and owned it hard. It's too bad we can't have nice things.

Maaaaaaan. I only just found about this because of this post. 2 episodes in and it has me.
We really can't have nice things.

Glad I saw that much! It'll catch on as E.R. fare, though. Maybe they'll bring back the 'Trams Gone Mad' thing from the 1870s. 'What happened to the Draft Horses/Chickens/Pugs/Monkeys/Ceramicists?'
