I love the MJT. If you're willing to take a step back and take it in for what it is, you will find one of the most "intentionally constructed" spaces ever. What at first seems like a mish-mash of random tourist trappings is a pretty neatly constructed thread! I hope you enjoyed it! The Russian Cosmism exhibit is really pretty fantastic :)
It really is incredible and damn near indescribable. This was my second visit, first was a few years ago. It's feeling a bit run down, though; there are quite a few things that need minor repairs. I guess that's part of the charm, though?
I honestly haven't yet figured out if the state of disrepair is itself part of the narrative about the MJT, or if it's just a state of disrepair. That probably speaks more to the nature of the place than almost anything else I could say! I have tried to explain it to folks and found myself completely incompetent. My favorite is when I was attacked by a Twitter Dude™ who insisted that the MJT was "hipster bullshit." :)
My wife and I have an active discussion whether it's worth donating $1,000 bucks to the MJT to get our names on a plaque. It feels right, you know?

Rocketship dollhouse or custom bombshelter with rad hard solarium can be yours for $300,000?
