I think that at this point, all of the OSX savers should be just as fast as their X11 equivalents. XCopyArea has finally been beaten in to submission, mostly thanks to Dave Odell!
One new hack, Geodesic. Watch how it inflates. It's subtle.
Also, I added a real installer on OSX. Let me know how that works out for you.
And the usual round of minor bug fixes.
Installer worked a treat, thank you. And I am delighted to finally have IFS running fullspeed.
One incredibly tiny bug: something that I assume is unicode/locale fuckage in the copyright verbiage: behold. (Seen on Mavericks 10.9.0 root:xnu-2422.1.72~6/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64)
Are they all doing that?
Haven't gone through all of them, but the ten or so I spot-checked are.
I can confirm this problem on the ones I've spot checked.
I just pulled up the options on Geodesic and got the same thing.
I've looked through a few more to refamiliarize myself with some of the hacks, and every one I've looked at does the same thing as reported when I look at the options. This is 10.7.5.
I get an error message when I try to use the "Molecule" saver under Mavericks, telling me I can't use it under this version of the OS. The older package worked fine under Mavericks, so this is odd. (The other savers I've tried seem to work...)
I have heard reports of this periodically -- as well as reports saying "it happened yesterday but today I ran the very same binary and it worked fine". So, I dunno.
You will be unsurprised to learn that they were all compiled with exactly the same options, so if one doesn't work then none should work.
Someone also just emailed me saying it's not working on 10.5, but this may be the same intermittent nonsense. Can anyone else confirm functional 10.5?
Okay, that is really weird. Yes, you're absolutely right, it is now working for no obvious reason even though it refused to run before.
I suppose you can close this as "cannot reproduce error". :(
Oh cool, there aren't any comments along the lines of "Everything keeps freezing!" or "None of the hacks get above 0.2 FPS!" -- was just a little worrried. Keeping my fingers crossed that no such comments appear.
(And...public acknowledgment! Aw, shucks.)
Thanks - works just fine on 10.8.3... appreciate the updates.
