I haven't gone by while they're actually digging, so I'm curious: how slow is that whole process?
You'd said before that they're dropping in ~50 ft girders. Eyeballing it, that feels like it's a lot of nibbles with that beast, and I'd assume each of those takes at least a minute to line up, drop, take a bite, haul it up, swing around, and drop the load.
Yeah, it's pretty slow. Each bite seems to take around a minute. It also seems to involve the guy running the scoop, and two or three guys "supervising".
