I'm not totally happy with how the scale-to-fit sizing works (you can see the big image load first, then it shrinks to fit, which is annoying) and the navigation is a little intrusive on iPhones, but I'm not sure what to do about either of those.
Perhaps you could unobtrusively display the next image in succession as a single pixel in a dark corner? Then when the user advances to its proper page, it's pulled whole from the cache and the progressive display-unscaled-while-downloading part is skipped?

You do galleries really well! FSM bless you for the one-click-per capability, and the click-anywhere advance is unique in my experience.
