Maybe there are other copies of these videos that don't run afoul of Google's content-ID-matching algorithm, but frankly I can't be bothered playing whack-a-mole with these parasitic monopolists any more. Just don't watch those tracks. Sorry, bands: that's what you get for assigning your copyrights to a label. Welcome to oblivion.

The Naked And Famous' album Passive Me, Aggressive You, as heard in the first video, is one of the best albums I've gotten lately. I've been listening to it over and over. And Chromatics (second video) will be playing at DNA Lounge on Sep 7.

We've been really, really into vegan pizza lately here at the Guardian -- and while our old standby is a simple veggie minus cheese from neighborhood spot Goat Hill Pizza, we finally had a post-clubbing opportunity to experience newly revamped pie parlour DNA Pizza, conveniently located right next to party-central DNA Lounge itself. It's open 24 hours! It has lots of options! Best of all, there's an excellent vegan overload called "The Whole Damn Vegan Garden": spinach, basil, tomatoes, red onions, artichoke hearts, black olives, daiya vegan cheese, and bell pepper on some pretty great crust. No need to sink into dead grease after drinking at the goth party, y'all.

Photos of Hubba Hubba Revue: Summer Camp are up now, with the fabulous Fans of Jimmy Century, who put on a great show as always. This was also the premiere of their new music video Hollywood Ending, which you can now watch online.

I've also put up photos of last month's Mortified. I had forgotten that I hadn't posted them yet, oops!

It looks like SF Weekly is having another contest for some "Web Awards" thing, and one of their categories is "Best Venue Website". Guess what? DNA Lounge is not one of the choices, and there's no mechanism for write-ins. What do you think is it a deliberate snub, or simple incompetence? It's not like we don't win their "Best of SF" contest every year! Feh.

I happen to think that this web site is pretty good!

Flickr adds "Geo Fences"

This is neat:

Geofences are special locations that deserve their own geo privacy settings. Simply draw a circle on a map, choose a geo privacy setting for that area, and you're done. Existing photos in that location are updated with your new setting, and any time you geotag a photo in that area, it gets that setting too.

According to the SFMTA, dooring is the second most common form of injury collision involving cyclists, behind unsafe speed, though the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC) points out that dooring is the highest injury collision type caused by motorists or their passengers.

This man's eye still works:

US man impaled through eye with pruning shears

Leroy Luetscher was working in his back garden when he dropped a pair of pruning shears, which landed point-side down in the ground. When Luetscher went to pick them up, he lost his balance and fell face-down on the handle. The handle penetrated his eye socket and went down into his neck, resting on the external carotid artery. Half the shears were left in his head, while the other half was sticking out.

Mr Luetscher was rushed to the hospital, where surgeons removed the shears and rebuilt his orbital floor with metal mesh, saving his eye.

Doctors say Mr Luetscher still has slight swelling in his eyelids and minor double vision but has otherwise recovered.

I repeat, this man's eye still works.
