(Normally I would just drop this in a mixtape, but I'm way behind, so here.)
Based on this trailer.
I met Mike briefly, and was shocked to learn that he was unfamiliar with Emergency Broadcast Network. This is, apparently, not an uncommon state of affairs amongst the VJ types these days -- it's not the first time I've had this conversation! It is baffling to me, as if A Place to Bury Strangers had claimed to be unfamiliar with Jesus and Mary Chain.
This saddens me. EBN are one of the primary reasons I became a VJ. Then again, there's a lot of visual culture to pick and choose from that can lead to this dark path, so, e.g., I also consider Joshua Light Show and Svankmajer essential reading for historical context, and I'm sure there are other things that I don't have in my arsenal that others would say "oh man I can't believe you never..."
Kids today, the man ain't got no cultcha, get off my lawn, etc etc.
It's a shame there is no clear central repository of EBN's work. I have a number of higher quality clips that were shared around before there were crappy-low-quality-transcoded video sites, but I doubt I have a comprehensive set.
Whats worse, is that any attempt to share them would probably be met with DMCA antibodies whining about the unauthorized derivative work.
Ah, the life of a creating criminal.
