My first thought upon reading that was "WHAT?! The 6502 can run up to 1GHz?! And there's a newer one that runs at 1.5?!" I'm so used to modern specs that it took me a few re-reads to finally parse that M != G.
I didn't even know there was a 6502A. I thought most console units (not to mention many PCs and peripherals of the time, such as the C64 and the 1541 disk drive) jumped from the 6502 to the 6510.

It took me a minute to figure that 6502A wasn't the same as 6502.
It needs this chip to run at 1.5MHZ. This chip runs at 1MHZ and can't be used.
Truly a WTF moment.
Tricksters, weren't they?
I think you can run MAME on an iPhone. Quite a difference 30 years makes.
Vectrex?
