I saw this in person in 2006, and it is indeed very cool. The balls were vibrating slowly back and forth due to a bit of a breeze in the gallery, which just made it that much cooler.

Reminds me a little of the Stellarium that used to be at NASM in DC. But less scientific and a lot larger.
Puts me in mind of the Yayoi Kusama exhibition that's been in town with stuff like the Fireflies on Water.
