- The Things by Peter Watts -- The Thing from the perspective of the alien.
The Gentle Seduction by Marc Stiegler -- The Rapture of the Nerds from the perspective of a non-nerd.
I, for one, welcome our new Hivemind Overlords.
A couple of good stories I came across today:

"The Things" was pretty amazing I have to say. The last 2 lines especially.
Agreed, even though it teeters uncomfortably close to the sci-fi author tendency to insistently and awkwardly use "alien" terminology.
Really enjoyed The Things.
Some of the descriptions of assimilation reminded me of a Ray Bradbury short story I read some time ago, about a kid with the flu (or something similar) trying to convince his parents and doctors that it is taking over his body cell by cell.
peter watts story was great
I remember seeing The Thing, in black and white, when I was a little girl, single-digit aged. Terrifying, on par with Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
What a nifty new telling of that tale! Thank you.
I really enjoyed The Gentle Seduction. In my more optimistic moments I hope that things might, just possibly, turn out something like that.
oh hell yes
Thank you for the links. I thought both stories were excellent.
