and here we're talking about handing out IOU's again.

    argh.

Thank goodness Michigan didn't outlaw the tootsie roll! As long as my right hands is somewhere between her waist and her shoulders, I'm OK. Although the see-saw rule might apply. Does anybody know if that refers to left-right, back-front or up-down?

Yeah. Actual reason and facts have nothing to do with these Puritanical assholes. Lawyers still have to use it with them though, because it's really the only recourse.

I guess I don't understand how you can file identical charges after said charges have already been dismissed, except in light of new and compelling evidence (was there? I forget). That seems broken.

    • jwz says:

That's the difference between "dismissal with prejudice" (plaintiff is barred from re-filing on the same claim) and "without prejudice" (where they can re-file, presumably after getting their shit together in some way).

they drank a gallon a day pretty routinely.

I have to say it again. It seems like it's easier to run a club in Mississippi than in San Francisco. Let the regime know they're being worse than Mississippi.

  6. superbacana says:

Is it really puritanical assholes, or politically ambitious assholes who, if they succeed, can put their "successes" on their CV and use them to climb the ladder? Just enforcing the law normally and allowing clubs to stay open doesn't sound nearly as impressive.

If it quacks like a duck...

A prohibitionist is someone who behaves like a prohibitionist, even if they're behaving that way for some secret reason that I don't know.

Comment #1 on the SFBG article says:

The crackdown started because one venue tried to game the system to get an all-ages, and the entire city is suffering now. Let the state take their one victim and leave everyone else alone now please.

Are they referring to DNA Lounge!?
