So that first track, The Mercy Beat. An old favorite, but it got its hooks into me in a big way recently, and I must have listened to it a hundred times in the last two weeks. I'd be sitting there listening to music, and think, "Wait, this doesn't sound right. This doesn't sound like The Mercy Beat". Then I'd listen to it another dozen times in a row. This doesn't happen to me that often. (I considered just putting 20 copies of The Mercy Beat on this mixtape, but I'm pretty sure I'd be the only one who would have thought that was funny.)
Also: I feel compelled to point out that tonight at Super Ego (every 3rd Saturday at DNA Lounge), for the first 40 minutes or so that I was there, every song played was a discoed-up remix of a track by one of the bands on the best-of-2008 mixtape 064. So if you're into that sort of thing, you might be in to that sort of thing.
your current music is still The The?
I was just thinking about that song the other day while out of town where I couldn't listen to `Infected' - it's definitely my favorite. Which got me to thinking that NakedSelf is quite an underrated album, and will `Gun Sluts' ever be released?
I love that song but hadn't listened to it in years, thanks for the reminder!
I actually did the Entire Mixtape Full Of One Song years ago; I got hooked on a particular song that was getting daily radio play, and I just kept taping it off the radio until I'd filled both sides of a C60. And then listened to it over and over in an auto-reverse cassette deck.
I so needed you to walk in when that disco-Lykke-Li track was playing, and you did! Hooray!
Nice to see The Airborne Toxic event on this one. They were part of some sale that iTunes was doing a week or so ago, and I listened to some of the samples, and I liked what I heard so far. I didn't buy their album right away, because I wanted to hear a whole track. I forgot all about it, thanks for jogging my memory about them!
Infected is such a good album, as is Soul Mining. I played my vinyl copies to death when I was growing up. I kind of lost track of him after that. Later stuff any good?
I am a huge fan of both Dusk and NakedSelf. NakedSelf in particular is NOISY. In a good way.
for the twenty-in-a-row to fully go through I'd have rounded it off with "Henlein's Advice on Lovemaking," or whatever that speechtrack was. That would work.
In case I have not mentioned it yet.
