To commemorate this, we gave away a bunch of compilation CDs of most of the bands who have played at Pop Roxx over the last two and a half 
years. It wasn't all of the bands, because there were too many to fit on an audio CD, so I had to leave a few off.
This week's mixtape is the "director's cut" of that CD: it's almost the complete set of Pop Roxx bands. (And yeah, I'm slightly breaking my "C90" rule for this one.) I'm only missing tracks by three bands (Pretty Vicious, Landshark, and Sunday Drivers). Somehow I managed not to get CDs by those bands, and I wasn't able to track down MP3s by them this week, alas.
We had a lot of great bands at Pop Roxx! I'll miss it.
grr. I managed to lose my CD somewhere between getting it by the bar on the way out and arriving home and looking for it.
Why did Pop Roxx go away?
I really, really like Enter to Exit, I liked it back on #25 and I like it just as much now. Is the rest of IO Echo's stuff like that, or not so much ? Under Control is pretty nice too. I'd say I wish there were clubs in my city that played stuff this good, but that's unfair, there's at least one venue in the city that had bands I really like, before I even heard of them. The problem was I could never guess whether a band would be worth seeing so I only ever go to see bands on someone else's recommendation. So really what I need is someone like JWZ who lives in my city...
Yeah, the rest of the album is similar. I like it.
