mixtape 036

Please enjoy jwz mixtape 036. I have three things to point out here. 1) Heartsrevolution is deeply weird, you need to google that shit; 2) The Ting Tings kind of freak me out in that A) I really love the album but B) I discovered them by seeing their video on MTV, which is like, what is this, 1987 again? That doesn't happen anymore! Anyway, if you're gonna Tivo some MTV, "Subterranean" is the new 120; And 3) I went to high school with  REDACTED .

re: Heartsrevolution and "Choose Your Own Adventure". I'm really uncomfortable with bands making cultural references that I actually recognize without the aid of wikipedia or anything else. Is this what getting old feels like?

No, getting old is when all of the new popular music sounds like a daycare full of irritated children sharing a resperatory ailment.
Fortunately, Lemmy appears to be immortal.

I dunno, I remember being totally baffled by 80s pop culture as a kid. It's only as I've gotten older that pop culture has gotten depressingly intelligible.

  2. It sucks living on the east coast. Having to wait until one in the morning to watch one of the only decent shows MTV has is maddness. Madness!

  3. 3) I went to high school with  REDACTED

Really? I went to high school with  REDACTED , and  REDACTED  were in the year behind me. Funny old world.

  4. I *love* that Stars song. Downloaded it from the SXSW site a few months ago & it's been in heavy rotation ever since.

What are you doing listening to STARS?! They're one of my favourite bands but I am a Canadian indie rock hipster.

My worldview is all messed up now. Next thing you know you'll be listening to Death Cab for Cutie.

Yes, Subterranean rules. I have like 15 episodes piled up on my Tivo waiting for a rainy day.
