xscreensaver 4.15

XScreenSaver 4.15 out now! The big news is that the apple2 and phosphor hacks now include pty support and vt100 emulation: that means you can now run curses-based programs under them like "top" and... emacs. If you are utterly loony, you can even use them as your regular terminal window.

phosphor -scale 2 -geom =1280x1024 -program 'top'
   phosphor -scale 4 -geom =1280x1024 \
            -program 'mtr www.kernel.org'
phosphor -program 'xemacs -nw -q -f life'
   phosphor -scale 5 -geom =1280x1024 \
-program 'xemacs -nw -q --eval "(hanoi 5)"'

apple2 -text -fast -program 'xemacs -nw -q -f life'
   apple2 -text -fast \
-program 'xemacs -nw -q --eval "(hanoi 5)"'

i've always disagreed with that. it seems more to me that "every program attempts to expand until it can view web pages."

phospor -program 'lynx http://www.jwz.org', here i come.

Agreed - it used to be mail, but I think your modified version is more true these days. ("Web Services" for xscreensaver, anybody? Phosphor.NET, perhaps? *cackle*)

Actually, I've used my powers for evil and ported Rorschach to C# and .NET... I was going to do xmatrix next because I'm contrary.

A colleague noted that it's rapidly becoming "...consume RSS."

    Fucking brilliant.

I haven't succeeded at getting screen to run properly under phosphor though.

For some reason playing adventure through apple2 seems like a good idea. I'll have to get to compiling.

I can hardly wait to try it out.

This may very well be the most awesome thing I have seen all week.
