it's a squeaky-clean white robot, to boot...
For some reason, the direct link isn't working for me. For any others that are redirected to the front page, select "Neill's Domain", then "Reel pt3". That will get the quicktime movie wrapped in a popup window. I must've missed the memo that all quicktime movies must be presented in popup windows.
To avoid that, people should download from the link. Safari users can option-click on it.
thanks for the hint (haven't tried it yet, tho). i've run into this on other sites with safari ... i thought it was just bandwidth protection ... IOW, you need to show a valid referrer before you can get to the goods ...
Websites sometimes refuse to honor URLs that they publish, insisting you go past their "front door" -- they check the referer. To make the web work the way it was supposed to, Mozilla users have refspoof.
As far as I can see, there is no referer tracking on that URL: I downloaded it using wget with no problem, and without having to fake out a referer.
Though it's not relevant in this case, I use Privoxy, which is quite a bit more powerful than the various built-in bits and pieces in Mozilla. In particular, it has an option that lets you always send as a referer the root directory of the site being loaded. I can't recall ever having seen that fail.
same thing happened with IE 6 as happened with Safari: their browser checker/plug-in checker is the culprit - you get redirected, somehow.
i'm sure you could just download it with lynx, too ... :P=
