Senators Demand the Military Lock Up American Citizens in a "Battlefield" They Define as Being Right Outside Your Window

In support of this harmful bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the bill will "basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield" and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial "American citizen or not." Another supporter, Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) also declared that the bill is needed because "America is part of the battlefield."

If the government wants to set the rules of engagement to legitimize warfare between citizens and the government in North America, I'm down with that...but I suspect that they haven't thought through the full implications.

  2. Nathan Roberts says:

Yes, America is part of the battlefield, and people like Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte are the enemies we're fighting on American soil.

  3. Barry Kelly says:

This ought to permit president-authorized assassinations of American citizens without trial on American soil, not just abroad. Fantastic!

Unless you're a terrorist, you have nothing to worry about. When has the US government ever made a mistake?

Clearly this doesn't go far enough.
Currently, as a UK citizen residing in the UK, I can insult the US government by saying something like "the US government is a bunch of stupid heads", and there is nothing they can do about it.
    Ban this sick filth!

When you say "and there is nothing they can do about it" you mean, aside from kidnapping or assassinating you? Your government lacks the combination of technical capability and political will to prevent such a thing, and the US Supreme Court has made it plain (albeit by majority decision not unanimously) that US law permits such things even when it has a treaty with the relevant nation unless the treaty specifically says that the US won't kidnap or assassinate people from that country.
