I believe it's "modern", which in the dance world, appears to mean "edgy for the sake of being edgy".
I was reminded of the "Fishy" scene in Monty Python's Meaning of Life. I don't get modern dance at all.
There isn't really a difference, aside from the better body control shown here. Also, boobies.
