It may not contain the wordoid "infographic" but I think we must acknowledge xkcd's important contribution to this field.
The journal Science has an annual image contest with an infographic category. The winner was pretty but boring (Fungus!), but Everyone Ever In the World was pretty striking.
The scarier and honest they are, the better.
